These are our TOP 10 travel tips. Travelling overseas (especially if it’s your first time) can be quite daunting, but with careful preparation it will be stress-free. These are our suggestions to take care of prior to departure to ensure you get the most out of your Travel Gang adventure.
1. GET IN - Make sure that you have the right visas for the countries you are visiting or transiting and check any other entry or exit requirements. Make sure your passport has at least six months’ validity from your planned date of entry to each country.
2. TRAVEL INSURANCE - Take out comprehensive travel insurance and ensure it covers you for the places you plan to visit and the things we plan to do. Travel Gang do not provide Travel Insurance so please purchase your own. Before travelling overseas, give your family and friends at home your contact information so they can get in touch with you in case of emergencies.
4. STAY CHARGED - Keep your gadgets juiced up! A dead phone is a no-go, especially when you’re ready to snap that perfect moment or need your music on the go.Check to make sure you have the correct power adaptors for the country you are visiting.
5. BE MONEY WISE - Notify your bank of your travel plans, obtain travel money cards and always have some local currency on hand for those places that don’t take cards. Know your budget and stick to it.
6. STAY SAFE & HEALTHY - Check with your doctor for information on recommended vaccinations and other health precautions. Also find out about taking medication overseas – certain medicines aren’t allowed in some countries. Keep your wits about you. Keep an eye on your belongings, and always let someone know your plans.
7. STAY FLEXIBLE - Plans might change, and that’s okay! Sometimes the best adventures are the unexpected ones. Be open to new experiences.
8. RESPECT THE CULTURE - Show appreciation for local customs and traditions. Dress appropriately, be polite, and remember, you’re a guest in their world. Obey the laws of the country you’re visiting even if these seem harsh or unfair by your standards. Don’t expect to be treated differently from the locals just because you’re a traveller.
9.PACK SMART, PACK LIGHT - Bring what you need, but remember, you’re an adventurer, not a pack mule. Essentials only! Think mix and match outfits, and always leave space for souvenirs.
10. BACKUP - Make copies of your passport details, insurance policy, itinerary, travellers cheques, visas and credit card numbers. Carry one copy in a separate place to the originals and leave a copy with someone at home. Keep in contact with friends and family back home and give them a copy of your itinerary so they know where you are.
